We are excited to bring Not So Silent Cinema back to the theater to perform live music accompaniment set to THE PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC. The group has composed a brand new original score for this early masterwork of silent cinema.
Carl Theodor Dreyer constructed one of the most transcendent and rebellious pieces of silent cinema chronicling the trial and final hours leading up to her execution for heresy. Dreyer’s experimental approach with expressionistic lighting and intimate close-ups is a master stroke of cinema. Renéé Falconetti’s resilient and haunted performance as Joan is one of the most powerful portrayals of the human spirit ever captured on film.
